How To Dress Elegantly
So your good friend is getting married soon and you do not know how to dress for the occasion. Yes, I know that is exactly why you came to read this post. You probably even considered declining the invitation but you don’t want to disappoint your friend. So you gave it some more thought and decided that you will RSVP anyway. After all, she didn’t really have to invite you so consider yourself lucky to have made the list. The only problem now though is that you’re stuck figuring out how to dress and what you should wear.
I’ve been in this situation quite a few times myself and it’s not a nice one to be in. At one point I even told myself that being invited to a wedding is an expense. Mainly because you have to buy an outfit, do your hair, nails, and makeup.
Set A Budget
Before you being shopping, think about all the stuff that needs to get done and set a budget. This is so that you would know how much money is required up front and that you do not overspend.
How To Dress Elegantly For A Friends Wedding
Wear A Gown
Gowns are those dresses that go all the way down to your ankles or are floor length. They can be made of solid colours, and may also incorporate materials such as lace, sequins and embellishments. Although typically very expensive, you can still find some good quality ones for under $100.
My favourite types of dresses to wear to weddings are cocktail dresses. They are usually knee-high length, simple and elegant which makes them easy to style. In terms of cost, they tend to be priced at mid-range so its not too expensive nor too cheap.
Maxi dresses are different from gowns and although they are also long, they are not as formal.
Gone are the days when jumpsuits were only used to go to the clubs or to new years eve parties. The popularity of jumpsuits is becoming like a little black dress which is a staple for every wardrobe.
When it comes to shoes you do not have to wear 4-inch heels but do not turn up in sandals. In fact I have seen wedding photos in the past of some guests wearing sandals. Sometimes life happens and it may be absolutely necessary to wear flat shoes. In that case, you can wear a pair of ballet flats like this or this.
This soft blush satin Badgley Mischka bow ankle strap sandal is the true definition of elegance. Don’t let the price tag scare you because you are surely going to turn a few heads with this pair.

Other Minor Things To Note
Ready-made dresses, skirt suits and jumpsuits are easier to style than having to mix and match separate pieces.
Never try to outshine the bride: aim for less flashier outfits and subtle colours. Also avoid wearing all white clothing or the exact wedding theme colours.
Remember its quite okay to dress your best!2
